Decoupage
Release Date: December 2021 Label: Self-released Produced by: Ian Beabout and Derek Ferguson
About the Album
Decoupage is where it all began. Written and recorded during the COVID-19 lockdowns, the debut album from Refestramus assembled an international cast of musicians recruited primarily through Fiverr.com and the connections of producer Ian Beabout. The result is a genre-defying debut that fuses progressive rock with gypsy, flamenco, and Slavic folk traditions alongside modern hard rock.
The album introduced songwriter Derek Ferguson’s distinctive approach: literate lyrics, theatrical arrangements, and an unapologetic love for the golden age of 1970s prog, filtered through a thoroughly modern sensibility. Jerry King (Clouds Over Jupiter, Moon Men, Moon X) anchored the sound on bass, establishing a partnership that would continue through all subsequent Refestramus recordings.
The CD edition has sold out.
